Lainey is no newbie to the world of country music. This brown eyed, brunette has always known from the age of nine she wanted to be a singer but not just any singer. She told her parents at nine she wanted to be a “country legend”! She is definitely no stranger to the stage. “The bigger the stage, the better”, Lainey says. Growing up, Lainey traveled all around the state and venues in Texas singing at some of the best Oprys in the region. Lainey said, “The chance to sing with a live band in front of an audience of upwards of 800 people on any given Saturday night was incredible opportunity to develop my love of performing at such a young age.” Love for the stage was the one thing that could get her off the softball diamonds as Lainey was quite the “Tom Boy”. Lainey excelled as a softball pitcher but her passion for touching people with the power of music made her decide to give music her full force attention. By looking at her now you’d never think that “Tom Boy” side would still live inside but it certainly does! When she is not on the road, performing and writing songs she loves being in a workshop creating, building furniture and getting out her love for power tools!
Years later, that passion resulted in her moving to Music City……Nashville, TN. With the entire family in tow and their undeniable support, her move to Nashville has resulted in active working relationships with some of the industry’s most accomplished producers, songwriters, music publishers and record executives. Lainey recorded her first album with one of Nashville’s most respected, Grammy-nominated producers, Brett Beavers. While speaking of Lainey, Brett stated, “She can write ‘em…and really sing ‘em. I have been a huge fan of her smoky, soulful, powerful voice since the first recording I heard of her”. Brett went on to say how much he loves “the classiness of her style, her steady work ethic and her sharp business sense”. Brett is the man behind many hits like, “What Was I Thinkin’”, “Come A Little Closer”, “Red Solo Cup”,”Love You Like That” and many more. He is an insanely talented producer and is responsible for some of the great artists of today, Dierks Bentley, Dustin Lynch, Canaan Smith. Lainey is very honored to add her name to that list!
Nashville is the ultimate place to develop your talents, a songwriter’s dream world! Living in a community with thousands of songwriters at her finger tips, Lainey started writing her own songs soon after she moved to town. She co-wrote all twelve songs on her first album and hundreds of songs later Lainey decided it was time to release a new project! “Barnstormin’” is the title track of the brand new EP released in the summer of 2015. Produced by fellow country artist, Billy Dawson, this project is filled with everything from high energy, fun stadium anthems to a heart stealing song, “Tequila” that features Lainey’s smoky, velvet voice. The influences of Lainey’s childhood idols, Trisha Yearwood, Shania and Faith Hill, can be felt throughout the EP. The power of her adult influences, Fleetwood Mac, Janis Joplin and Linda Ronstadt is also at the core of this powerful collection. Lainey is actively touring to support this new EP and hitting the road with her band, “The Tribe”. With a great appreciation for her Native American heritage, Lainey says “A Tribe is a family, my band is my family and my fans are my family. Branding my band and my fans as “The Tribe” was the best way of showing how important they are to me!”
In 2014, Lainey added radio personality to her list of endeavors. She hosts “Latest with Lainey” every Saturday on Lotoradio.com. The “behind the scene” show delivers music and interviews with Nashville’s best independent artists, touring musicians, hit songwriters and today’s best country music artists. The show is currently reaching nearly 50,000 country music fans every week!
Lainey has been blessed to know and work with some of the best in the industry. Hit songwriter, Kent Blazy says, “In my time in music city, I’ve been fortunate to meet and work with some really talented folks that have the unexplainable, magical “IT” factor. Garth Brooks, Billy Dean, & Trisha Yearwood come to mind. None of them had been “discovered” yet still their talent was shining through. Lainey Edwards has “IT”. She’s a soulful singer, and a serious songwriter, seasoned performer and a woman with a big heart. She’s a fireball who knows what she wants and is willing to put in the time and effort to make her dreams come to life. God bless her.”
“I am thankful for my strong drive and desire to be a country music artist and thankful it was instilled from a very young age. My move to Nashville was just the first step in changing lives through my music and fulfilling my goal of becoming a positive influence for all ages. Seeing how music moves people and how even one song can touch their lives is why I love creating and performing.”
Besides country music legends, Oklahoma is also known for a very strong Native American presence. Lainey is a proud member of the Choctaw Nation. This appreciation for family heritage and tribal roots can be felt in the music she writes. With the summer release of her EP “Barnstormin’”, Lainey finally feels she’s found her voice. “This is the music I’ve wanted to make all along. This is me.” Fan appreciation is rapidly growing! Most recently, Lainey took home the fan voted award & title “Best Country Female Vocalist” for the Nashville Industry Music Awards in August of 2015!
Powerhouse, booming, smokey, velvet voice are just a few words to describe country music artist Lainey Edwards. Carrie, Blake, Reba, Garth, Vince and Toby are country icons that all have something great in common with Lainey. They are proud Oklahomans!
